The Department of Environmental Supervision has identified 809 cases of non-compliance with established vehicle emission standards in March 2026

Between March 1 and March 31, 2026, staff of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 809 cases of non-compliance with established vehicle emission standards across four cities.

525 violations were recorded in Tbilisi, 135 in Batumi, 85 in Kutaisi, and 64 in Rustavi.

Of these, 693 violations were committed by individuals, while in 116 cases, the department fined legal entities.

Notably, 429 violations were committed by drivers/owners of passenger cars, 356 by minibuses, 22 by trucks, and 2 by buses.

In order to improve ambient air quality and minimize pollution from the transport sector, the Department’s inspectors carry out daily monitoring of emissions from motor vehicles operating on roads in four cities across the country.

The crews are equipped with appropriate measuring instruments, and staff undergo periodic retraining. Department employees now have the capacity to inspect more vehicles at a greater number of locations. As a result, monitoring has become more extensive and effective — in the first three months of this year, department staff identified 2,226 cases of non-compliance with established vehicle emission standards.
