The Department of Environmental Supervision has identified cases of illegal timber transportation
As part of efforts to combat illegal forest use, Employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 14 violations in Adjara, Guria, Samegrelo, Racha, and Shida Kartli.
In the municipalities of Khulo, Ozurgeti, Zugdidi, Tsalenjikha, Martvili, Oni, and Kaspi, as well as in the vicinity of the settlement of Surami, citizens were transporting timber in violation of transportation regulations.
In total, 75 logs of various species, more than 39 cubic meters of primary wood-processing products (boards), and up to 6 cubic meters of firewood were seized and sealed.

Appropriate documentation has been prepared against the offenders, and the case materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities.
Combating illegal forest use is a top priority for the Department. The patrol crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision conduct continuous 24-hour monitoring nationwide to ensure the timely prevention, detection, and suppression of environmental violations. Immediate action is taken in response to every report received through the Ministry’s hotline (153). As a result, in April of the current year, 58 cases of violations of timber transportation regulations were identified nationwide.
