The Department of Environmental Supervision has identified cases of illegal timber transportation
Employees of the Adjara and Guria Regional Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture have identified an environmental violation in Shuakhevi Municipality.
The offender illegally harvested coniferous tree species in the state forest located in the village of Gogniauri.
A total of 39 round logs were seized from the area.
Appropriate documentation has been prepared against the offenders, and the case materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities.
Since the beginning of the year, employees of the Adjara and Guria Regional Division have identified more than 140 cases of illegal forest use within their area of operation.
The patrol crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision conduct continuous 24-hour monitoring nationwide; Immediate action is taken in response to every report received through the Ministry’s hotline (153).
Within the framework of combating poaching, the Department actively uses modern technologies, Sanctions have been tightened. As a result of systematic measures implemented in recent years, a decrease in cases of illegal forest use has been observed.
