The Department of Environmental Supervision identified 1,075 Violations in Tbilisi Over Six Months
From 1 January to 30 June 2026, inspectors of the Central Office of the Department of Environmental Supervision under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 1,075 environmental violations in the capital city of Tbilisi. Of these, eight cases contained indications of criminal offences, and the case materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
The largest share of the violations identified - 551 cases - involved breaches of theWaste Management Code. Inspectors also recorded 126 violations of air protection legislation, 38 violations of the terms of licences for mineral resource extraction, 30 violations related to permit conditions or unauthorized activities, 24 violations of water legislation, 10 violations of land legislation, 10 violations of fishing regulations, 9 cases of illegal forest use, and 277 other violations.
To ensure the timely prevention, detection, and suppression of environmental violations, the Department maintains continuous and effective environmental enforcement throughout the country, including in the capital, through both environmental patrols and inspection activities. At the same time, every report received through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s hotline (153) receives an immediate response.
