The Department of Environmental Supervision Identified 543 Violations Since the Opening of the Hunting Season
From the opening of the migratory bird hunting season to date, from August 22 to September 14, employees of the Environmental Patrolling and Rapid Response Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture have identified 543 violations across the country.
Of the violations identified, 85 involved hunting with prohibited weapons, methods, or devices.
In 39 cases, hunters had failed to pay the fee prescribed for the removal of migratory birds from the wild; in 15 cases, offenders were hunting in a prohibited area - the territory of the city; and in one case, an individual was found hunting a prohibited species of bird.
Since the opening of the hunting season, Department employees have seized 442 illegal hunting devices, including electronic bird-call devices, used to attract birds.
Throughout the migratory bird hunting season, the Department of Environmental Supervision is further intensifying monitoring across the country. As part of its efforts to combat poaching, the Department actively uses various tools and technologies, including high-mobility vehicles, so-called buggies, drones, camera traps, and thermal binoculars. As a result of strengthening the Department’s capacities and introducing modern technologies into practice, state environmental control has become more effective.
The Department of Environmental Supervision calls on citizens to comply with hunting regulations and, in case of any violation, to call the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s hotline at 153 (no area code required; calls are free of charge and anonymity is guaranteed), so that the relevant regional division of the Department can respond promptly.
