The Department of Environmental Supervision Identified 646 Violations Within One Month of the Opening of the Hunting Season
Within one month of the opening of the hunting season, from August 22 through September 22, 2026, officers of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 646 violations.
The highest number of violations - 196 cases - was recorded in Imereti. A total of 119 violations were identified within the area of operation of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Division, 93 in Guria, 69 in Shida Kartli, 49 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 39 in Adjara, 34 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 21 in Kvemo Kartli, and 18 in Kakheti.
Violations were also recorded in the capital. Within one month of the opening of the hunting season, eight cases of violating hunting regulations were identified in Tbilisi.
Of the identified violations, 546 involved hunting with prohibited weapons, methods, or means. In 54 cases, offenders hunted migratory birds without paying the applicable fee for removing migratory birds from the natural environment. In 24 cases, hunters violated hunting regulations, while in 22 cases, individuals were found hunting within municipal boundaries.
Within one month of the opening of the hunting season, Department officers seized 525 illegal devices, including electronic bird-call devices, used to attract birds.
From August 22 through September 22 of this year, the total number of illegally harvested natural resources amounted to 66. Poachers illegally hunted 63 quails, as well as one chukar partridge, one hoopoe, and one pheasant.
The patrol crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision conduct continuous 24-hour monitoring nationwide to ensure the timely prevention, detection, and suppression of poaching and other environmental violations. In addition, they provide immediate responses to all reports received through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s hotline (153).
