A meeting was held at the office of the Kakheti Regional Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture with representatives of the Office of the Public Defender.
Natia Fitskhelauri and Eter Shiukashvili, representatives of the Public Defender in Kakheti, presented the Department’s employees with the Public Defender’s special report entitled “Asbestos: A Hidden Threat to Human Rights.”
The meeting addressed the risks associated with the use, handling, and waste management of asbestos-containing materials.
Representatives of the Department of Environmental Supervision provided the staff of the Public Defender’s Office with information on waste management, including the management of asbestos-containing materials, as well as the state control process.
