Vehicle Emissions Control Service

The functions of the Vehicle Emissions Control Service are as follows:

a) Monitoring the compliance of the emissions of motor vehicles with visible emissions with the standards established by the legislation of Georgia, and, for this purpose, using the relevant electronic systems for recording and managing administrative offences in the field of environmental protection and the use of natural resources;

b) Stopping a motor vehicle with visible emissions for the purpose of conducting an emissions inspection;

c) Inspecting motor vehicle emissions using special measuring instruments and/or the organoleptic inspection method;

d) Within the scope of its competence, upon detection of an administrative offence, drawing up an administrative offence report, issuing a fine receipt – administrative offence report, and taking appropriate measures in accordance with the procedure established by law;

e) Issuing relevant decisions within the scope of its competence;

f) Imposing a surcharge on an offender;

g) Within the scope of its competence, reviewing and/or participating in the review of applications, complaints and letters;

h) Submitting a report to the Head of the Department on the activities carried out at the end of each calendar year;

i) Performing other functions provided for by the legislation of Georgia, within the scope of its competence.
